13th International Festival of Brazilian Colonial Music and Ancient Music




  1. The official opening of the Festival will be on 13th July at 20.00hs, in the Cine-Theatro Central.

  2. Students enrolled in the Festival should go to the Pró-Música Theatre to receive their timetables and other information on 14th, from 8.00 to 18.00hs.

  3. Students should go to the Stella Matutina School, where classes will begin on 15th.

  4. Students of instruments and song in the Festival will automatically be enrolled for Orchestra or Choir Practice.

  5. Students of Ancient Instruments and Baroque Song will automatically be enrolled for Baroque Group or Madrigal.

  6. All Festival students will be automatically enrolled for the talks in the 5th Meeting of Historical Musicology, except for those who have already attended the Course of History of Brazilian Colonial Music in previous festivals.

  7. Subjects may be done separately, but without the right to receive the certificate.

  8. A university extension course certificate issued by the UFJF/Pró-Música, will be awarded to all students who attend at least 80% of classes in compulsory subjects.

  9. It is recommended that students of violin, piano and strings take part, as auditors, in courses such as Lute, Harpsichord, or Baroque Violin or Cello, if their timetable allows.

  10. Enrolment will begin on 15th May.

  11. The number of places is limited, and will be allocated according to the order of receipt of enrolment and analysis of CV.

  12. Any student who fails to attend or justify his/her absence by 17th July will lose his/her place.

  13. There will be free transport to Pró-Música leaving from the most distant accommodation at 8.00hs and returning at night, after the concerts.

  14. Students may have their meals at special prices in the following restaurants: Oxalá Restaurant (Galeria Bruno Barbosa 41, lj. 12 - R$ 2,50), Tia Lucy Restaurant (Rua Santa Rita 409 - R$ 3,00) and Gula Gula - set meal (Rua Espírito Santo 908 - R$ 2,90).

  15. Groups enrolled in the 13th Festival will be eligible to take part in concerts, participating in the cultural programme of the event, as long as they express their wish to do so on enrolment.

  16. There will be two categories of student for the guitar, piano and flute courses:

    a) Performers b) Auditors


  17. The subject "chamber music" will be divided into two groups:

    a) Modern instruments b) Period instruments

    Students should contact their teachers in order to form study groups.

  18. Students will be allowed to attend other students' classes, subject to availability.

  19. For the Restoration of Scores Workshop, participants must have a basic knowledge of harmony.

  20. Each participant in the Festival should bring his/her own instrument, music stand, and a piece of music of his/her choice for the teacher to assess his /her performance. He/she should also bring a pair of black trousers and a white shirt for auditions or public presentations.

  21. Participants under 18 years of age must have the written authorisation of the person responsible for them on their enrolment form.

  22. The Festival administrators will reserve rooms, at times to be confirmed, for individual or group study.

  23. The times established for classes must be strictly adhered to.

  24. Lectures, talks, concerts and other cultural activities of the Festival will be considered as part of the student's study time.
